The National Society of Black Engineers Birmingham Professional Chapter (NSBE) is awarding scholarships to qualified applicants entering the field of engineering.

Description of Program: The 2025 Engineering Scholarships program supports the mission of NSBE to increase the number of culturally responsible black engineers who excel academically, succeed professionally, and positively impact the community.

Scholarship Qualifications: Qualified scholars must demonstrate professionalism, motivation, leadership, initiative, and personal achievement. Scholars are expected to support program objectives by choosing a study in the field of engineering or related science that will help address the technical needs of the community.

Scholars Eligibility: NSBE is looking for graduating high schools seniors in the Birmingham-Metropolitan area who intend to enroll in an Engineering program at the college freshman level in the upcoming summer or fall term. Students must be a citizen of the United States at the time of application.

Application Process: All interested students should apply directly to NSBE’s online application. Online application will require the following sections and attachments:

■ Education (GPA, ACT/SAT Scores, Intended College Major and Universities)

■ A personal statement

■ Awards/Honors

■ Activities (Extracurricular and Community)

■ Employment History

■ Financial Statement

Interview Process: Students invited to interview following the application review process should be prepared to bring the following to their interview appointment:

■ Resume

■ Two (2) personal reference forms

■ A copy of ACT and/or SAT score(s)

■ A sealed copy of all high school transcripts

Deadline for Submittal: The application period will end on March 10, 2025. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
