Thousands of baseball fans poured into Birmingham this week for the MLB game at historic Rickwood Field and the tribute to the Negro Leagues. Birmingham City Schools' scholars had a close view of the historic event and an opportunity to meet many baseball greats. They also attended a star-studded luncheon with greats such as #ReggieJackson and comedian Roy Wood Jr., a BCS alum.
More than 175 BCS high school scholars began their participation in NewGen Peacebuilders last year. Their mission: develop ideas to reduce violence and increase peace. This year, they put their ideas into action. This week, they presented their projects during a special event at UAB! #BCSstrong #SuccessStartsHere
