I am Dr. Kimberly Hudson Smith, a 24th-year educator and product of the Birmingham City Schools System, a proud graduate of Ensley Magnet High! I bring you a plethora of Library Media , Elementary, Undergraduate and Graduate level teaching experience and Assessment practices. I am experienced in building, diversifying, and managing library collections and overseeing student, teacher, and parental literacy activities.
During my time as an Educator and Library Media Specialist, I have worked to implement several Reading and Math Nights, Book Fairs, and Community Involvement Events on the campuses of several Fairfield City and Birmingham City Schools. I was honored as the 2019 Birmingham City Schools Librarian of the Year and in 2021 awarded the Laura Bush Library Grant. I was also awarded two CBS One Class at a Time Grants, a Dollar General Grant, nominated for the Birmingham Times Exceptional Teacher Award and awarded The Fairfield City Schools Elementary Teacher of the Year, Robinson Elementary Teacher of the Year, and Hemphill Elementary Teacher of the Year. I have supervised numerous interns in the library education field and love teaching them how to innovate their libraries. I currently serve as an adjunct at Grand Canyon University in the Teacher Education Department, and love orientating future teachers in the field of education! I am delighted to work under the leadership of Dr. Randle as she takes Jones Valley Middle School Leadership and Career Technical Academy to new heights! Let’s Go Dragons!
